William C. “Bill” Conrad, 79, of Lufkin, Texas, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2025, surrounded by family and loved ones.
Born on December 14, 1945, Bill grew up with a strong sense of grit, love of country, and deep devotion to family—values that would guide him throughout his life. He often described himself as an old country boy.
He graduated from Lufkin High School in 1964. His love of sports—especially baseball—and his talent to foresee the next play led to the Lufkin Panthers winning the Texas State Championship; the only team to do so to date.
Bill proudly served his nation as Captain William C. Conrad, United States Marine Corps, an infantry Marine platoon and company commander from 1968 to 1972 during the Vietnam War. A decorated combat veteran, he was the recipient of the Purple Heart, Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. His courage, leadership, and dedication to his country earned him the deep respect of his fellow Marines and all who served alongside him. He was honored for his bravery, steadfast leadership, and unwavering commitment to duty. “Semper Fidelis” — Always Faithful.
After serving honorably, Bill and Jackie Conrad settled in Coronado, California, where they raised their three beautiful children. He later built a distinguished career as a fiduciary specialist, managing multi-billion-dollar bank and trust companies with integrity and wisdom.
A scholar at heart, Bill earned his Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Stephen F. Austin and his Doctorate of Jurisprudence from Western School of Law. His passion for learning, reading, his deep knowledge of history, and his commitment to excellence shaped both his professional and personal life.
Bill loved the outdoors—spending countless hours hunting, fishing, and enjoying nature with his buddies and sons. He mentored other young men in his neighborhood and showed them the joys of sportsmanship. Those who knew him will remember his sharp wit, his quiet strength, and his unwavering sense of honor.
He is survived by his children, Jackson Conrad, Casey Conrad, and Dr. Regina Conrad; his grandchildren, Scarlett Rose Theresa Anderson and Gehrig Anderson; son-in-law Dr. Eric Anderson; his brother, James Noland; divorcee Jackie Conrad; nephew Kenny Aegeter; and niece Mandy McCauley.
