Alice Mae (Pierce) (DuLong) Mardigian, a long-time resident of Lynn, passed away in the Abbott House in Lynn on November 20, 2018 at the age of 90. Born in Tewksbury on March 16, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Mary B. Pierce. Alice was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School with the Class of 1945. She worked for many years with the New England Telephone Company working as a telephone pioneer. She served with the Directory Alumni Council during her working days as well. Alice had a love for dancing. She was a dance instructor for Gordon’s Dance Studio in Lynn for 14 years and also served as a volunteer usher with the North Shore Music Theater for 11 years. She enjoyed candlepin bowling and ballroom dancing. One of her favorite pastimes was playing card games like Cribbage and Whist. She also loved the challenge of a good Mahjong game as well. Alice was a one-time member of the Red Hat Society.
Alice leaves her daughter: Cindy Murray of Medford and her grandchildren: Darren James of Valencia, CA, Todd James of Bridgewater, Tracy Vaillancourt of South Berwick, ME, and Joe Smolski of Swampscott. Alice also leaves 9 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and her very dear friend, Roberta DiGangi. Alice was preceded in death by her daughter, Debbie Gately and her sister, Grace Dickson.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple St. LYNN on Sunday, November 25, 2018 from 1 to 5pm. Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home on Monday, November 26th at 11am. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn.
