Anthony (“Tony”) Montemorra passed away on March 12, 2019 at the age of 98. Tony was born in Chelsea, Massachusetts in 1920. He was part of the first generation of his family to be born in the U.S, with his parents (Domenic and Laura (Frattaroli) Montemorra) having been born in Italy. Tony had one brother (deceased) – Robert Montemorra formerly of Wakefield – and two sisters (deceased) – Alice Lepore and Marie Carlton, both formerly of Everett. He proudly served in the Army Air Corp. during WWII. While serving overseas and flying a night mission near Parma Italy, his plane crashed, the pilot did not survive, and Tony as well as another crew member were injured. The Italian Partisans treated their injuries and helped return them safely to the American lines. Tony married Iris Lemme (deceased in 2007) in 1949, and they enjoyed 57 years of marriage together. They resided most all of their married lives in Lynn and Salem, Massachusetts. Tony worked for much of his professional career at the Boston Naval Shipyard, but also worked at General Electric Company until he retired in 1985. Tony was a sports fan, especially the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots, but he also enjoyed Boston Celtics games, especially during the Larry Bird era. Tony is survived by his daughter, Roberta Marvin and her husband Conrad, his son, Don and his fiancé Deb Arnott, as well as Deb’s son Michael, his brothers-in-law Ray Lepore and John Trotter, and several nieces, nephews and friends.
Many thanks go out to those who showed so many acts of kindness and caring during Tony’s lifetime. He will be missed by so many.
