

Mr. Arthur J. “Skip” Hynes, age 66, of Lynn, died Friday evening in the Kaplan Family Hospice House after a lengthy illness. He was the beloved husband of Nora T. “Nonie” (Bernardo) Hynes and the late Carol McCullough.
Born in Lynn, Skip was the son of the late Arthur C. and Diana E. (Gallagher) Hynes. He attended Lynn Schools and was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School. He resided in Lynn for most of his life.
Prior to his retirement in 2014, Skip spent over 30 years as a Police Officer at Northeastern University, serving in the Special Services Unit. He was also an EMT and CPR Instructor and taught several classes at Northeastern. For many years, he was a part of the Civil Air Patrol as a First Lieutenant. He was a history buff and also enjoyed flying and writing. He also enjoyed boating and was a member of the Danversport Yacht Club. He was a devoted dad and the greatest husband anyone could have.
In addition to his wife, he leaves two children: Bobby Hynes of Lynn and Anne Hynes of Fall River. He was the brother of Carl Hynes and his wife Diane of North Andover and the grandfather to Colt Donahue and Nicholas Hynes. Also survived by 5 nieces.
Visiting Hours will be held in the CUFFE-MCGINN FUNERAL HOME, 157 Maple St. Lynn on Wednesday from 3-7PM. A Funeral Service will take place during the Visiting Hours at 5:00PM. Relatives and friends invited. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory may be sent to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St. Framingham, MA 01701.
