

She was born in Arlington, MA on July 26, 1934, the daughter of the late Arthur J. and Agnes (O’Connor) Evans. She was a graduate of St. Mary’s Girls High School Class of 1952 and later obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the Salem State Teacher’s College in 1956. She lived for most of her life in North Andover before moving to Florida in 2004. Prior to her retirement in 1995, she spent over 33 years as a school teacher for the Town of Lynnfield, concluding her career at the Summer Street School.
She was a member of Our Lady of the Springs Catholic Church in Ocala where she volunteered for Bingo, the office staff and was a member of the Women’s Club. A diehard Red Sox fan, she also enjoyed rubber stamping, making cards and golfing.
She is survived by her sisters, Estelle Sykes of Ocala, FL and Agnes (Harold) Wilmath of Miami Lakes, FL. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visiting Hours will be held Friday from 4-7PM in the CUFFE-MCGINN FUNERAL HOME, 157 Maple St. Lynn. Barbara’s Funeral Mass will be on Saturday in Saint John the Evangelist Church, Swampscott at 9:00AM. Relatives and friends invited. Interment Saint Mary’s Cemetery, Lynn.
