Barbara J. (Ranahan) Harkins, age 92, passed away on October 19, 2025, in Sunrise, Florida. Born on January 19, 1933, in East Boston, she was the beloved daughter of the late Florence and William Maguire. Throughout her life, Barbara dedicated herself to serving others. She worked as a teacher aide in the Lynn Public Schools, acted as a Eucharistic minister, and volunteered for many years at her parish Food Pantry.
We are deeply grateful for the beautiful life our mother lived and the immeasurable joy she brought to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. Barbara found true happiness in life's simple pleasures, whether camping at Tuxbury Pond, cheering enthusiastically for her beloved Red Sox, or showering her grandchildren with love. Her presence made the world a better and brighter place.
Barbara was predeceased by John Ranahan Jr., by William Harkins, by her son John Ranahan III, and by her grandson John Ranahan IV. She leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. Her memory
lives on through her daughter Tricia Farnum; her sons and their wives Stephen and Terriann Ranahan, and Michael and Kelly Ranahan; and her many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends whose lives she touched in countless ways.
We invite family and friends to join us in celebrating Barbara’s remarkable life and the joy she brought to us all. She will be fondly remembered, dearly missed, and forever loved.
Visitation will be held in Sacred Heart Church, 571 Boston St., Lynn, on Saturday, December 6th from 9:30–10:30 AM.
