

She spent her entire life in Lynn, graduated from Lynn English HS in 1951 and Lynn Hospital Nursing School in 1954. She raised her family in Lynn as well as Ossipee, NH.
She worked as a private nurse for most of her nursing career before starting her own nursing registry in Lynn. She was a dedicated member of Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Lynnfield and St. John’s Prep Parent Guild Society of Danvers.
In retirement, Arthur and Barbara became members of the Massachusetts Ballroom Dancing Association and made many friends that toured the country together. She then continued to tour the world with her husband before his passing in 2008.
She volunteered for many years at the Peabody Senior Center working and performing in various musical productions and singing to Alzheimer patients. Barbara’s family shares their deepest gratitude to the Peabody Senior Center for giving her such joy in her later life.
Arthur introduced Barbara to Ossipee N.H. in 1956, and she never looked back. Our family enjoyed summering at our home on Lake Ossipee and skiing at Mount Whittier. Barbara’s greatest times were with her friends and family.
Barbara is survived by Keith Therrien and Brenda Hicks of Carlisle, Kurt and Shari Therrien of Reading, Craig and Lona Therrien of Boxford, and Peter and Kirsten Vallis of Boxford. Cherished grandmother of Sam Therrien, Hannah Therrien, Christian Vallis, Langley Therrien, Mercer Therrien, Colin Vallis, Griffin Therrien, Chloe Therrien, Cord Vallis, Maxwell Therrien, and granddaughter-in-law Kirsten Therrien.
Barbara is also survived by her long-time partner Daniel Scotina of Lynnfield who she shared 11 wonderful years with, her sister-in-law Mary Therrien, and many nieces and nephews.
Barbara is predeceased by her husband Arthur J. Therrien, mother Francis Erickson, father Carl Hill, step father Walter Erickson, her loving aunt Betty Barile, and her sister-in-law Eileen Hahnen.
Barbara’s visitation will be held on Sunday, August 16, 2026 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple Street Lynn. Her funeral service will be held on Monday, August 17, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home followed by interment at Pine Grove Cemetery,145 Boston Street, Lynn.
