Betty Ann (Osterfield) Ross, of Danbury, CT, formerly of Peabody, MA entered into the arms of Jesus on September 24, 2022 at the age of 82. She was the beloved wife of the late Stuart Ross, with whom she shared 55 years of marriage. Betty Ann was the daughter of the late John S. and Frances (Taylor) Osterfield and the loving sister of John S. Osterfield and Ruth E. Webb as well as the late James F. Osterfield.
Betty Ann grew up in Lynn, MA and graduated from Lynn English High School. She entered into The Salvation Army’s School for Officer’s Training from 1960 to 1962. Betty Ann was commissioned as an ordained minister with The Salvation Army and served various appointments across New England. Betty Ann married the love of her life Stuart Ross in January 1965 and later moved to Peabody in 1974 where together they raised their family. Betty Ann worked as a Senior Citizens Director and with The Salvation Army.
She was a dedicated member of The Salvation Army in Lynn, MA where she also volunteered. She volunteered for many years teaching children and leading music lessons to children. She also enjoyed knitting hats for children and veterans, visiting patients in the nursing homes, and volunteering at the local hospital. She loved Jesus, her family, especially her grandchildren, Winnie the Pooh, knitting, reading, and playing Scrabble. She cherished her time with family and friends.
Betty Ann is the devoted mother of Andrew Ross and his wife Kimberly of Fitchburg, BethEllen Parkhurst and her husband Gilbert of Danbury, CT, Jonathan Ross and his wife Kelly of Wallkill, NY, Joel Ross of Peabody, and Timothy Ross and his wife Nicole of Lowell. She was also the cherished grandmother of 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service for Betty will be held Monday, October 3, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, 185 Lake St., Peabody, MA 01960. Please kindly gather inside the main gate at 10:45 AM.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to The Salvation Army 1 Franklin Street, Lynn MA 01902. Please indicate “Memorial Betty Ross” in memo line.
