He was a graduate of Lynn English High School class of 1981. After graduating High School, he attended UMass Lowell where he majored in Computer Science. After a break in education, he enrolled at North Shore Community College in Lynn where he earned his Associates Degree in Computer Science.
He held many jobs over the years as an "IT Specialist" starting with Timeslips in Essex, MA. He later went to work for Abacus Travel Agency in Peabody, MA, and then Animal Ultrasound in Salem, MA. He then became self-employed, continuing in IT solutions as well as consulting and website building.
Brian was a "computer genius" and accomplished self-taught musician. He started with the trombone which he played in the Lynn Public School Senior Band. He later picked up the bass guitar which he played in the Lynn Public School Stage Band. His love of bass guitar continued on after high school. He performed in several bands over the years and was a regular at many of the local "Open Mic" nights at clubs in Lynn and surrounding cities. He later picked up playing the trumpet, which he would also bring with him, morphing into his alter ego "B-Flat".
He is survived by his father Donald F. Harvey and devoted stepmother Margaret A. Harvey of Wakefield, MA., brothers Todd Harvey of Peabody, MA and Scott Harvey of Middleton, MA., and nephew Alexander Harvey of Salem, MA. He was predeceased by his mother Jane L. Harvey and sister Karen L. Hammond. He also leaves two aunts, Rosemarie Miller of Katy, TX and Susan Angellis of Albuquerque, NM, as well as several cousins.
Arrangements: At the request of the family, and due to Covid-19 restrictions, all services for Brian will be held privately. As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
