

Mr. Charles J. Sargent, age 81 years, of Lynn, died Saturday at his home after a lengthy illness. He was the husband of the late Shirley (Folan) Sargent. Born in Lynn he was the son of the late Michael and Filomena (Tichi) Surgent. He attended Lynn schools and graduated from Lynn Classical High School, Class of 1952. He served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean War, and was assigned to Operation Deep Freeze #1 Antarctica, aboard the USS Glacier, building the first base in Antarctica. Charles was employed as a Die Bender at the former Glenmere Die Co. in Lynn for many years, until he retired in 1975. He is survived by one daughter Jean Sargent of Lynn, one son David Sargent of Lynn, two brothers Peter Sargent of Lynn, Edward Sargent of Tewksbury, and several nieces and nephews. He was also father of the late John Sargent, and brother of the late Emil, John, Stephen, Joseph, and Michael Sargent, Anna Koloski, Mary Gambale, and Julia Kiley. Service Details: Services from the Parker Funeral Home 35 Franklin St. Lynn on Wednesday at 8:00 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Mary's Church, Lynn at 9:00 AM. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Relatives and friends respectfull invited to attend. Visiting hours are on Tuesday from 4:00 - 8:00 PM.
