

Dana was born in Lynn the son of the late Raymond L. and Ruth M. (Gallagher) Cyr. He leaves behind several close friends. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Lynn and held a Master’s degree in Psychology from Northeastern University.
Dana was a professional Broadway Show drummer who worked with the Rockettes, played several seasons at the Burt Reynolds Theater, and performed with the Naples Philharmonic Pops Orchestra. He traveled across the United States as a pit drummer for touring equity Broadways shows, including Beauty and the Beast and Guys & Dolls. Besides having performed over 200 different broadway shows both professionally and regionally over the course of his career, Dana worked as a clinician for high school students in New York and Florida, helping instruct them on musical styles and drum book interpretation. Prior to his death, he wrote a book on Show Drumming which was in the process of being edited for publication. His hobbies included Master Firearms certification as a Sig Sauer pistol instructor. Dana also held licenses to fly both single and multi engine aircraft. Prior to his passing, Dana trained as a baseball umpire at the Wendelstedt Umpire School in Ormond Beach Florida and worked as an umpire in South Florida and in the Boston area.
