Delia M. McMahon

Delia was born in Tuam, County Galway, Ireland, daughter of the late Michael and Nora (Manning) Flynn. Delia came to the United States as a young lady in 1949 and resided in Lynn for 55 years before moving to Peabody in 2004.

She worked at the General Electric Company for several years. She also worked for the Lynn School’s Cafeteria.

She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church where she was also a member of the Sodality and was a Eucharistic Minister. She was a past communicant and Past Prefect of the Sodality at St. Patrick’s Church. Her proudest achievement was raising her six children, all of whom have successful careers and in whose achievements she took great joy.

Delia is survived by three daughters: Mary Griffin and her husband Robert of Rhode Island, Theresa A. Toppan and her husband Jay of Bridgewater and Eileen Shea and her husband Robert of Gloucester, VA; and three sons: Michael McMahon and his wife Carol of Gloucester, Kevin McMahon and his wife Jeannie of Houston, TX and Joseph McMahon and his wife Krista of Lowell. She was the sister of May Coen of Galway and Julia Cleary of England. She was also the proud grandmother to Michael E. McMahon, III, Shannon Crompton, Susan Griffin, Jaime Bruno, Brent Galligan, Dennis Mitchell, Colleen Mitchell, Jennifer Toppan, Jay Toppan., Jr, Kelly O’Connell, Alanna Martin, Patrick Shea, Shawn and Norah McMahon. Great grandmother of Ryan, Jack, Erin, Katie, and Shane.

She was the sister of the late Norah Flynn, Annie Lohan, Eileen Stevens and Margaret Cleary.

Delia’s Funeral will be Saturday from the CUFFE-McGINN FUNERAL HOME 157 Maple St. Lynn on Saturday at 9:30 AM. Funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church at 10:30 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Friday 4-7 PM. Interment in St. Josephs Cemetery, Lynn. Gifts in her memory may be sent to the St. Therese Carmelite Chapel in the North Shore Mall, 210 Andover St. Peabody, MA 01960.
