Dennis W. Coogan Sr.
August 23, 1946 – July 20, 2018
LYNN - Mr. Dennis W. Coogan, Sr., of Lynn, passed away in Salem Hospital from a short illness on Friday, July 20, 2018 at the age of 71. He was the husband of Frances P. (Doward) Coogan. The son of the late James E. and Alma (Carden) Coogan, Dennis was born, raised and educated in Lynn. After Dennis left school, he went to work in Boston Chinatown’s poultry district. He worked there for 40 years. He left there to go to work for Hill Top Steak House. He worked there for eight years. When it closed, he decided to retire. As a young man he always loved horses. His dream came true when he bought his own horse, Cochise. Dennis was a Boston sports fan, especially his favorites, the Red Sox and the Patriots. Dennis was a loving, caring and gentle man. He will be missed by all who knew him. He was the father of Dennis William Coogan, Jr. and his wife Lisa of Peabody, the late Rita Coogan, Michael A. Coogan, Jr. and his partner Teri-Ann Toppi of Everett, son-in-law Robert T. Clark, Sr. and his wife Ting of Lynn, and foster children Allen Johnson of Saugus and Robert Eveleth of Lynn, the grandfather of Brandi M. Clark and her partner Tommy Bowdren of Watertown, TN, Robert T. Clark, Jr. and his fiancé Stacey Gridley of Lynn, Michael A. Coogan, III and his partner Jacqueline Johnson of Everett, and Dennis Mello of Peabody, the brother of Thomas Coogan and his wife Mary Jean of Lynn, Carol Coogan, Paul Coogan, and the late James Coogan, Jr., Rosie Roussin and William Coogan. He also leaves two great-grandchildren Niko Bowdren and Madison Coogan, and several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 from 2-5 PM in the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple Street, Lynn, followed by a Funeral Service at 5 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Nashoba Valley Veterinary Hospital, 347 Littleton Road, Westford, MA 01886.
