Dorothy E. Carr

Mrs. Dorothy E. Carr, age 88years, of Spring Rd. Nahant, died Wednesday, May 27, at the Lafayette House in Marblehead after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of the late John J. Carr with whom she spent 38 years of marriage. Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Edith Lee. She move to Lynn as a young girl, attended Lynn Schools and graduated from LEHS, Class of 1938. She was employed as a secretary at the General Electric Riverworks Plant for many years until she retired in1982. She was a member of the First Untied Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir, the former Christ Church United Methodist Church, and a member of Grace United Methodist Church. She also sang with the Dane Singers. She is survived by one son James J. Carr of Swampscott, one daughter Thalia Herman of N. Reading, one granddaughter Karen O'Keefe of N. Andover, and several nieces and nephews. Service Details: Her funeral will be held at Grace United Methodist 374 Broadway Lynn on Saturday at 11:00 AM to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nahant. Visiting hours will be on Friday from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at the Parker Funeral Home, 35 Franklin St. Lynn.
