
Mrs. Edith I. (Dulong) Lapointe, age 88, of Somerville, formerly of New Hampshire and Lynn, died Thursday morning in Mount Auburn Hospital following a lengthy illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Raymond LaPointe.
Born in Lynn, Edith was the daughter of the late John T. and Louise (Muise) Dulong. She was a resident of Lynn for most of her life before moving to New Hampshire in 1992 and finally to Somerville in 2005.
In earlier years, Edith worked for 4 years as an Assembler for the GE, as a General Factory Worker for Sylvania, and for David Smith’s Dressmakers of Lynn. She greatly enjoyed knitting.
She leaves her daughters, Joyce Marcure and her husband Eugene of Laurinburg, NC and Jane Norton and her husband Leo of Somerville. She was the sister of Emile Dulong of Beverly, Robert Dulong of New York, and Nathan and Henry Dulong both of Lynn. She was the loving Grandmother of Robert Epps, Gene Marcure, Cheryl Hyder, Larry Epps and Ryan Epps and is also survived by 8 great grandchildren, 2 step great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Edith also leaves her sister in law and good friend, Mary LaPointe of Stuart, FL and her dear friend Sylvia Ernst of Somerville. She was the sister of the late Martin Dulong, Laura Rossi, Frances Cuthbert, Frances Amirault, Mary Parsons, Pauline LeMure and Barbara MacLean.
Edith’s Funeral will be held from the CUFFE-MCGINN FUNERAL HOME, 157 Maple St. Lynn on Monday at 9:30AM followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Pius V Church at 10:30AM. Relatives and friends invited. Interment Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. Visiting Hours Sunday 4-7PM. Gifts in Edith’s memory may be sent to the Lynn Cancer Association, PO Box 3153, Peabody, MA 01960.
