

Mr. Edward A. Barnard, age 68 years, of Lynn, died unexpectedly Monday after suffering a heart attack at his summer place in Alfred, ME. He was the husband of Beverly (Donahue) Barnard, with whom he shared 44 years of marriage. Born in Beverly he was the son of the late Albert S. and Catherine (MacLeod) Barnard. He attended Lynn schools and graduated from L. E. H. S., Class of 1962. He enlisted in the U. S. Navy and served during the Vietnam War. Ed was employed as a machinist at the General Electric, West Lynn Plant, and at Ametek in Wilmington, until he retired in 2003. He was also employed as a crossing guard at the Cobbett Elementary School in Lynn until the time of his death. He was a member of the former Bethlehem Lodge A. F. & A. M., a member of Mt. Carmel Lodge A. F. & A. M., the Die-Max Assoc. at the GE, the Kiley Park Assoc, and a volunteer with the Shoreliners and Jeannettes Drum and Bugle Corp. He enjoyed fishing, building model boats and spending time at his summer place in Alfred, Maine. He also enjoyed trips to Prince Edward Island, Canada. In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons Scott E. Barnard of Lynn, Steven M. Barnard of Lynn one daughter Suzie Dow of Reading, four grandchildren Kourtnie Dow of Lynn, Sarah E. Barnard of Lynn, Dalton Barnard of Fall River, Mason Barnard of Fall River, and one great grandchild, Keira Dow of Lynn. He was also the brother of the later Kathy Barnard. Service Details: Ed's funeral will be held at the Parker Funeral Home, 35 Franklin St. Lynn on Friday at 10:00 AM, to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours are Thursday from 4:00 - 7:00 PM. Memorial donations in his name may be made to the Keira Dow Benefit Fund c/o Eastern Bank. MT. Carmel Lodge A.F. & A. M. will hold Masonic Serices Thurday at 6:45 PM.
