Elizabeth A. Nohelty

Elizabeth Ann “Bettie Ann” Nohelty, loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and cherished friend to many, most recently of Nashua, NH, passed away on August 8, 2026, at the age of 75. She raised her family in Billerica, MA before enjoying her retirement in The Villages, Florida, returning in 2020 to be closer to her beloved family. She was the beloved wife of Martin (Marty) Nohelty, with whom she shared fifty years together.

Dear daughter of the late Lester Moore and step-daughter of the late Shirley (Davies) Moore. Her beloved birth mother, Elizabeth Ann (Stitch) Moore passed away from tuberculosis ten days after giving birth to Bettie Ann. Elizabeth fought hard for her daughter to have life. Because of Elizabeth’s strength and love for her daughter, Bettie Ann went on to live a life full of love, having her own beautiful children and grandchildren.

She grew up in New Bedford and later Methuen. She received her education from the Rhode Island School for the Deaf, and raised her family in Billerica. Bettie Ann played basketball in her younger years. She attended an alumni basketball game at the Beverly School for the Deaf with friends in 1973, and it was there she met the love of her life and future husband, Marty. Marty was the referee at the basketball game and was immediately taken back by her beauty. Marty asked Bettie Ann out when the game was over. The two started dating soon after and remained side by side, deeply in love, for the rest of her days.

She worked as key punch operator at Western Electric in North Andover for nine years, prior to becoming the devoted stay at home mother to Debbie and Mark. She raised her family in Billerica, and was a member of the local deaf community where she made many lifelong friends. Though Bettie Ann worked at various jobs over those years, the role she most cherished in her life was being the loving mother of Debbie and Mark.

She later moved to The Villages, FL where she enjoyed an active social life, spending time with friends, golfing, playing cards, gardening, going out to eat and to happy hour with her adoring husband, Marty, by her side, always. After moving back to the area to be closer to home, Bettie Ann enjoyed being with her family and friends, trying out new recipes for family gatherings, watching New England sports together, and spending time with animals, in particular her grand-dog Miley and great grand-cats Bando and Pibble.

Above all else, Bettie Ann cherished the time she spent with her family and many friends. She had a huge heart and cared deeply for everyone in her life, giving her love freely and generously. Her kindness, warmth, and wonderful hugs will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed.

Bettie Ann is the devoted mother of Debra “Debbie” Lewis and her late husband Timothy, who most recently lived in Nashua, NH, to provide live-in care for her parents, and Mark Nohelty and his wife Tamara, of Beverly. The cherished grandmother of Timothy Junior “Timmy” Lewis of Chelmsford, and Grace “Gracie” Lewis of Ayer. The loving sister of Donna Brown and her husband David of Fairhaven, Guinevere “Jenny” Moore of Vermont, Leslie Groden and her husband Edward of Oregon, and the late Linda Moore of Brockton.

All are welcome to attend Bettie Ann’s visitation on Sunday, August 23, 2026 from 1:00 to 4:00 PM at Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple Street, Lynn. Her funeral service will follow at 4:00 PM.
