Erin Magrane Calnan

A lifelong resident of Lynn, MA, Erin was, at her core, a loving wife, mother, and adoring grandmother. Her greatest joys were being Dave's partner in crime and the mom of David, Eddie, and Angie. Her children gave her the incredible gift of becoming "Grammy"—a title she cherished beyond words.

Erin's life was rooted in challenges and adversity, beginning with a cancer diagnosis at just 17 years old and continuing with health struggles throughout her life. She never dwelled on the medical issues that plagued her. Instead, she wanted those around her to focus on her strength, resilience, and her signature "hold my beer" attitude. What would have felt like insurmountable obstacles to most, Erin never let stand in her way.

Erin found a way to keep the things she loved most at the center of her everyday life. She dedicated 33 years as an educator with Lynn Public Schools, coached ice skating well into her 50s, and devoted herself to being the best Grammy she could be. That is the legacy she wanted to leave behind.

Erin is survived by her best friend and partner for life, David Calnan of Lynn; their children, Ed and Meg Calnan of Houston, TX, David and Aughtum Magrane of East Providence, RI, and Angelina and Nick of Exeter, NH; and her beloved grandchildren, Jayden, Gerard, Patrick, Maeve, Mason, and Miles. She is also survived by her father, Brian Magrane of Lynn, MA; her sisters, Cara Magrane of San Antonio, TX, Kathleen Magrane of Westborough, MA, and Megan Mulcahy of Scituate, MA; as well as her many brothers- and sisters-in-law and her awesome nieces and nephews, who brought her immense happiness and knew her as their "Cool Auntie."

A visitation will be held in the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple St, Lynn, on Tuesday, July 14, 2026 from 11 AM - 1:30 PM with a Celebration of Life service to follow at 1:30 pm.
