Evelyn G. Lazaris

Born in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late Carmen and Amalia (Fioraia) Pompa. She attended Lynn Schools, was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School and later received her Master’s Degree in Education from Fitchburg State University. She was a lifelong resident of Lynn.

Prior to her retirement, Evelyn spent over 25 years as a Cosmetology Teacher for Lynn Vocational Technical High School, where she also served as a Guidance Counselor and Summer School Principal. Prior to teaching, she owned and operated Chris-Lyn Beauty Salon along with her sister-in-law, Stella Lazaris.

Evelyn was a member of the Retired Educators of America, the Retirement Association of Teachers, Girls Inc., The Red Hatters and the St. George Philoptochos Society. She was a proud inductee of the Lynn Tech Hall of Fame in 2003, and was recipient of the Girls Inc. award, “She knows where she’s going” in 1994. She was involved in various civic organizations over the years.

She leaves her children, William N. Lazaris of Rowley, Gerald C. Lazaris of Windham, NH, Robert P. Lazaris of Lynn, Gina Lazaris of Lynn and Normajean Marston of Supply, NC. She was the grandmother of Robert Marston, Jr., Kristina Lazaris, Mark Marston, Nicole Marston, Jennifer Carmany, Candice O’Neil, William Lazaris II, Matthew Lazaris, Danielle Lazaris, Michael Lazaris and Jenna Lazaris. She was the great grandmother of Anthony Scoppettuolo, Matthew Marston, Nicholas Doane, Sophia Scoppettuolo, Ashley Marston, Summer Marston, Ethan Walters, Kyla Merrill, Isabella Walters, Evan Merrill and Arella Colameta. She was the sister of the late Retired Beverly Police Officer Joseph Pompa.

Evelyn’s Funeral will be held from the CUFFE-MCGINN FUNERAL HOME, 157 Maple St. Lynn on Tuesday at 9:00AM followed by a Funeral Service in Saint George Greek Orthodox Church at 10:00AM. Relatives and friends invited. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Visiting Hours Monday 4-8PM.
