Francis C. Meggison Jr.

Mr. Francis C. Meggison, age 73, of Lynn, died at his home surrounded by his family on Monday, March 3, 2014. He was the husband of Margaret M. “Peggy” (Ahern) Meggison, with whom he shared 55 years of marriage.

Born in Lynn and a lifelong Lynn resident, he was the son of the late Francis C. and Marion (Muise) Meggison.

He served in the Mass. National Guard for three years.

Francis retired from the Carpenter’s Union, Local 26 after over 50 years of service. He was involved in many major construction projects including the Big Dig.

He was an active communicant of St. Pius V Church.

He was the father of Shirley O’Connor of Mattapoisett, Patricia Deveau of FL, Bonnie MacLean of Lynn, Debbie DeBerardinis of Lynn, Charles Meggison of Lynn, Joseph Meggison of Maine, Michael Meggison of Maine, Theresa Ketchen of Lynn and James Meggison of Maine, and the brother of Bernard Meggison of Harwich and Virginia Grover of Maine. He also leaves 21 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be held on Saturday at 10AM from the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home 157 Maple Street, Lynn, followed by a funeral Mass in St. Pius V Church at 11AM. Burial in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Visiting hours Friday 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Care Dimension (Hospice of the North Shore) 75 Sylvan Street, Suite B102, Danvers, MA 01923.
