Mr. Barnes was born in Lynn, MA to the late Franklin and Beatrice (McGuffin) Barnes. He honorably served his country in the US Navy for six years during WWII. He was employed with Lynn Gas and Electric for 38 years, retiring in 1984. He enjoyed fishing and camping.
In addition to his wife Louise, Mr. Barnes is survived by his children, Kathleen Cousminer and her husband, Jeffrey of Salisbury, Stephen Barnes of Lynn, and Robert S. Barnes, Sr. and his wife, Paula of Templeton. He was the beloved grandfather of several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mr. Barnes was predeceased by his son, Franklin A. Barnes, Jr.
Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to Kaplan Family Hospice House, 78 Liberty St, Danvers, MA 01923. Arrangements under the direction of the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple St., Lynn.
