

Gail Frances Latimer-Sport, age 66, of Lynn, transitioned to Glory on Monday July 14, at Salem Hospital following a period of declining health. She was the wife of Louis W. Sport, Jr. with whom she shared 47 years of life.
Born in Lynn, Gail was the daughter of the late Francis Earl Latimer Jr. and the late Caretha Odom Latimer Pierre. She attended Lynn schools and graduated from Lynn Classical High School, Class of 1977. She also attended Salem State College. Gail was a member of the Bethel AME Church in Lynn. She enjoyed taking road trips with her husband, trying new restaurants, crocheting blankets for her loved ones, and listening to music. She took particular joy in caring for her grandchildren and spending time with her family.
In addition to her husband, Gail is survived by her daughters Tanache Latimer, of Lynn, Maisha Latimer-Sport, of Somerville, Markita Latimer-Sport, of Chicago, IL, and bonus daughter Rochelle Sport, of Salem. She leaves behind seven sisters - Andrea Hendricks of Lynn, Caretha and Eugene Anderson of Lynn, Wendy Owie of Lynn, Wanda Johnson of Orlando, FL, Pamela and Edward Burton of Lynn, Renée and Daryl Smith of Fredericksburg, VA, Simona and DJ Shazier of Matthews, NC, four granddaughters - Ja’Kiyah, Jaelani, Janéa, and Iris, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sisters Lee Ethel Odom Grant, Dolores Odom-Clark, Veda Dorsey, and Lynn Latimer Newson.
Service Details: Gail’s visiting hours will be held at Bethel AME Church, 72 Silsbee St. in Lynn, on Saturday August 2nd from 10:00 - 11:00 AM, followed by Homegoing Services at 11:00 AM. Memorial donations can be made in Gail’s name to The Nora F. Taylor Women’s Missionary Society of Bethel AME Church, Lynn, MA.
