

Mr. George P. Quinn, Sr., age 92, of Lynn, died Friday in a local nursing home after a brief illness. He was married to the love of his life for 54 years, Marie L. (Osborne) Quinn, who predeceased him in 2005.
Born in Somerville, George was the son of the late Simon P. and Katherine (Morrissey) Quinn. He attended Somerville Schools and was a graduate of Somerville High School Class of 1938. He enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps and proudly served his country during World War II, being honorably discharged as a Sergeant in 1945.
Prior to his retirement in 1972, he was employed as an aircraft mechanic for many years at the Hanscom Air Force Base. He then went on to work for the Lynn School Department in Maintenance until the mid 1980’s.
In earlier years, George enjoyed skating, swimming, boxing and running. More recently, he was an avid New England sports fan but above all, he cherished the time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was also a longtime devoted parishioner of Saint Mary’s Parish.
He leaves his children, George P. Quinn, Jr. and his wife Carol of Alameda, CA, Robert M Quinn and his wife Marsha of Tampa, FL, Patricia Quinn of Lynn, Joanne Osborne and her late husband Richard and Marilyn Tarmey and her husband Mark all of Marblehead. He was the loving grandfather to Carrie, Michael, Stephen, Brian and Colleen Quinn, Kelly Osborne and Erin and Ryan Tarmey. He was the brother of the late Harold and Jack Quinn, Evelyn McLaughlin and Grace Quinn.
George’s Funeral will be held from the CUFFE-MCGINN FUNERAL HOME, 157 Maple St. Lynn on Tuesday at 9:30AM followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Mary’s Church at 10:30AM. Relatives and friends invited. Interment Saint Mary’s Cemetery. Visiting Hours Monday 4-8PM. Gifts in his memory may be sent to the Saint Mary’s Church Restoration Fund, 8 South Common St. Lynn, MA 01902.
