Born in New York City, NY on October 20, 1926, he was the youngest son of Demetrios and Panagiota (Drosos) Zavoritis. He was a Veteran of World War II, having served in the 11th Airborne Division Parachute Infantry Regiment. He received his Honorable Discharge on November 18, 1946. He graduated from Boston University of Law in 1957. He became an Associate Legal Counsel of the law firm, Bicknell and Smith of Cambridge on January 5, 1965.
He was past president of the Wyoma Lions Club in Lynn and a member of Tedesco Country Club. An avid sports enthusiast, he also enjoyed playing golf. He won the Tedesco Cup in 1981 and 1982 along with his partner, Tim Foley.
He leaves his two sons, James G. Zavoritis of Beverly and Stephen Zavoritis of Clearwater, FL; one sister, Pauline Rowe of Mountain View, CA, and one sister-in-law, Theodora Cokas of Swampscott.
George’s Funeral will be held from the CUFFE-MCGINN FUNERAL HOME, 157 Maple St. Lynn on Monday at 9:00AM followed by a Funeral Service in St. George Greek Orthodox Church at 10:00AM. Relatives and friends invited. Interment Waterside Cemetery, Marblehead. Visiting Hours Sunday 2-6PM.
