LYNN – Gertrude D. (Moore) Kidney, 85, a lifelong Lynn resident passed away on August 3, 2018 at her home in Lynn surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved longtime companion of the late Richard (Dick) McAuliffe.
Born in Lynn on November 13, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Gertrude (Fay) Moore. Gertrude graduated from Lynn Classical High School with the Class of 1950. She worked at Norelco, Stop and Shop and for several years as a machinist at G.E. Riverworks in Lynn.
She enjoyed reading, crocheting, weekly trips to Walmart, cooking Sunday dinner for family and friends and hosting her annual Christmas Eve party with family which included watching the Lynn Christmas Parade.
She was the devoted mother of Paul S. Kidney and his partner, Eileen Dimaggio, James T. Kidney and his wife, Christine, Kevin F. Kidney and his wife, Judy, Joanne M. James and her husband, Gary, and Karen L. Rowe, all of Lynn and the late Michael J. Kidney; the sister of the late Everett, Leroy, Frederick and Ronald Moore , Florence Gregory and Thelma Davis; sister-in-law and lifelong friend of Maureen Kidney; the cherished grandmother of 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; and the aunt of many nieces and nephews.
Gertrude’s funeral will be held on Wednesday, August 8th, at 11:00 a.m. at the CUFFE-McGINN Funeral Home, 157 Maple Street, Lynn. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, August 7th, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in loving memory of Gertrude and her late son Michael (Big Mike) Kidney may be made to Rich Viger’s Lynn Christmas Parade, 15 Avon St., Lynn, Ma 01905.
