

Gloria was the beloved wife of the late Paul “Salty” Martin, who passed away in September 1991. They had shared 42 years of a wonderful marriage. She was the daughter of the late Frederick T. and Anne (Maloney) McSween. Gloria was born and raised in Lynn and was a graduate of St. Patrick’s grammar school and Lynn Classical High School with the class of 1943.
Gloria attended Stratford Secretarial School and as a tap dancer toured with the USO during World War II. Prior to her marriage, she was employed by General Electric Co., West Lynn River Works. After their marriage in 1949, Paul and Gloria made their home in Cuba, NY for a period of time and returned to Lynn where they made their permanent home and raised their four children.
Both Gloria and Paul were very active in St. Mary’s parish serving on many committees, taking part in many events. She was past president prefect of St. Mary’s Sodality as well as past president of the Pine Hill Little League Mothers Club.
Gloria was a stay at home mother, a role she cherished. Later in life, she was a teacher at First Church Congregational in Swampscott and during her retirement years was an account manager for the Jewish Journal Boston North.
Gloria lived her life to the fullest enjoying each and every day. She and her late husband traveled near and far and her happiest times were those spent with her family. Gloria would always say how blessed and grateful she was for the life she had.
Gloria is survived by her beloved daughter Susan A. Wills of Lynn, her three wonderful sons; Paul F. and his wife Gail of Georgia, Gary R. and his wife Linda of Attleboro and Kevin E. and his wife Cheryl of Groveland. Six special grandchildren, Andrew Wills of Lynn, Chris Martin and his wife Karen of Wellesley, Nick Martin of South Carolina, Damon Martin of North Carolina, Megan Martin-Comeau and her husband Capt. Chris Comeau, USMC, of San Diego and Kaity Martin of Groveland. Three precious great grandsons Boston Martin, Theo Martin and Isaac Martin. Gloria was the sister of the late Phyllis McSween. She is also survived by loving nieces and nephews. Gloria left behind her beloved dog Savannah.
Her Funeral will be held from the CUFFE-MCGINN FUNERAL HOME, 157 Maple St. Lynn on Wednesday at 11:00 AM followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church, 8 South Common St. Lynn at 12:00 PM.
