Gloria E. Walker

Born in Lynn and a graduate of Lynn English High School. Gloria was the wife of the late George Walker and together they shared decades of marriage, building a family they raised in Lynn before moving to Peabody. She worked at Eastern Bank Trust Department until her retirement at the age of 65, however, retirement didn’t stop her; she worked another 15 years until the age of 80 at Macy’s Department Store.

Gloria was happiest when she was with any of her four children and grandchildren. She was an expert cook, putting her heart into everything she prepared for her family. Sunday dinners at her daughter Lynda’s house were the highlight of Gloria’s week. Around a table of delicious food, the family spent hours laughing and making Gloria smile.

She is survived by her four children: Paul Walker and his wife Marie of Lynn, James Walker of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, Lynda Bernson of Peabody and Michael Walker and his wife Rose of Peabody. She is also survived by her grandchildren Randy and his wife Kate, Paul Jr., Susan, Renee, Ryan, Jennifer, Jeffrey, Kristen and her husband Vincent, and Matthew, as well as her sister Ida of Lynnfield and her brother Joseph and his wife Helen of Lynnfield, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours for Gloria will be held Thursday, August 8, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Cuffe McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple St., Lynn. Her funeral service will follow at 12:00 PM. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Lynn.
