

Mrs. Irene M. Thompson, age 98 year, of Peabody, died Tuesday Aug. 25th, at her home after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of the late Ernest B. Thompson, with whom she shared 20 years of marriage. Born in Old Perlican, Newfoundland, Canada she was the daughter of the late Simeon James and Matilda Jane (Beckett) March. She came to Lynn in 1928, where she attended Lynn schools and graduated from Lynn Classical High School, Class of 1935. Irene was employed as an assembler at the General Electric West Lynn retiring in 1970, and moving to Peabody. She was a member of the former Trinity United Methodist Church, where she sang in the Chancel Choir for many years. She was a member and President of the Radiant Circle of King's Daughters and Sons, which disbanded and became The Caring Friends, of which she was a past President. Irene is survived by one nephew Kenneth N. March, and his wife Deborah Gott of Biddeford, ME, one niece Marsha Edmunds of Waltham, two great nephews Peter S. and David J. March, both of Park City, Utah, one great great niece Harper March of Park City, Utah and her longtime devoted caregiver Grace Paquiot. She was also sister of the late Harry N. and Cecil G. March, and aunt of the late Merida J. March. Service Details: Funeral services will be held at the Parker Funeral Home 35 Franklin St. Lynn on Friday at 12:00 PM to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation prior to the funeral starting at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park.
