Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late Edward J. and Louise J. (Porter) O’Brien. A lifelong Lynn resident, he was a graduate of Lynn English High School, Class of 1980, and of Salem State College Class of 1985.
For the past 32 years he worked at Stop & Shop at various stores, and was an avid member of U.F.C.W.
James was also a published photographer, member of the Friends of Lynn Woods, and lifetime member of the Democratic City Committee.
He leaves his best friend for 35 years Charles Lambesis, a brother Richard F. O’Brien and his wife Kathryn of Boxford, a sister Mary O’Brien and her companion Glenn Coffman of Walpole, two nieces Anna and Jacqueline O’Brien, several aunts, uncles, cousins, and his extended Greek family including his “second-mother” Koula Lambesis, and his dog Maxine. He was also the brother of the late Robert O’Brien.
A funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 10AM in the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home 157 Maple Street, Lynn. Burial in Pine Grove Cemetery. Visiting hours Monday 4-8PM.
