Jimmy J. Roth of Lynn, formerly of Somerville, passed away in his home surrounded by his family on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at the age of 69. Born in Nome, Alaska on May 4, 1949, he was the son of the late James and Florence (Adams) Roth. Jimmy was raised and educated in Alaska. After his schooling, he enlisted into the US Navy to help fight for our country during the Vietnam War. He served bravely aboard the USS Shangri-La from June of 1968 until his honorable discharge on June 10, 1971. Jimmy settled in Somerville and worked as the manager for the Winter Hill Liquor Mart for over 30 years. On March 22, 1987, Jimmy married his sweet-heart, Helen Roth in Somerville. The couple spent over 30 years in marriage and love together as they cared for their loving family. Until his retirement in 2015, Jimmy was employed as a security screener for the TSA Department. He loved spending time with his family and working on projects around the house.
Jimmy leaves his wife, Helen Roth, his children: Janelle Roth Sutherland and her husband, Paul Sutherland, Jeanine Roth and her long time love Rudy Williams, James Roth, Katie Roth and his grandchildren: Jiana Brisbon and James Roth-Mackin. Jimmy also leaves his siblings: Michelle Chapman, Debra Heard, Michael Rodgers, and Ronald Rodgers. He was preceded in death by his siblings Jo Ann and Robin Rodgers.
A Memorial Visitation will be held in the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple St. Lynn on Saturday, January 19, 2018 from 3 to 6 pm. All other services will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jimmy’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St. Framingham, MA 01701
