She was the wife of the late Earl P. Cheever, with whom she shared 54 years of marriage.
Born in West Lynn, she was a lifelong resident of Lynn and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Hunt) Kaminski, and step-daughter of the late Barbara (Costello) Kaminski. She graduated from Breed Jr. High School and from Lynn Classical High School. Joan worked for many years at the Zimmans Fabric Store in Lynn, and at the Sears, Roebuck & Co. Store in Peabody. She loved to sew. Joan was a former communicant of St. Mary’s Church and was a former C.C.D. teacher at St. Mary’s. Most recently she was a communicant of St. Pius V Church.
Joan is the mother of the late Earl P. Cheever, II and of his wife Cheri of TX, the late Wayne L. Cheever and of his wife Merle of Beverly, Joseph Cheever and his wife Carol of Lynn, Frank J. Cheever and his wife Donna of Saratoga, NY, Paul J. Cheever and his wife Jennifer of Revere, Janice M. Cheever of Danvers, and Joan A. Monteith and her husband Robert of York, ME. She also leaves 20 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews, and was also the sister of the late Joseph E. Kaminski and the late Louise Broderick.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, October 18, 2026, from 4-7 PM in the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home 157 Maple Street, Lynn. Her funeral will be held from the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home on Monday, October 19, 2026, at 9:30 AM followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Pius V Church, 215 Maple Street, Lynn, at 10:30 AM. Burial in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Lynn. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Pius V Parish, 215 Maple Street, Lynn, MA 01904.
