

Mrs. Joan Marie Ouellette, born December 14, 1923, passed away quietly on October 22, 2010 to join her husband of 64 years, the late Edward P. Ouellette, who passed away May 18, 2010. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Katharine (Shorten) Hackett.
Joan was a graduate of Lynn English High School and worked at the GE in Lynn as a “Rosie the Riveter” during World War II. Throughout her life she was well known as a quiet, shy, gentle lady who dearly loved her family, friends, and home. She always had a comforting word for anyone needing it and won several major awards for her exquisite ceramics.
She leaves a daughter, Joanne Dumond of Hudson, New Hampshire; grandchildren, Michelle Dumond of Hudson, NH, James Horan and his Fiancée Susan Hogan of Groton, and Jake Vogenberg of Sharon; great-grandchildren, Tyler White, Ryan Horan, and Zachary Horan, many nieces and nephews throughout the country who she enjoyed watching grow from mischievous children to successful adults; in particular Joan and her husband Ed, felt truly blessed and immensely grateful to have the unwavering love and assistance of their niece and nephew, Diane and Doug McClain. She was also the sister of the late Fran Hackett of Maine and Paul Hackett of Lynn.
A Funeral Service will be held in the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple Street, Lynn on Wednesday at 1pm. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Lynn. Visiting hours are prior from 11am to 1pm.
