

Joan C. (Finnell) Savia a long-time resident of Lynn, passed away in her home on Tuesday, February 2, 2016, she was 74. Born in Boston on May 26, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Joseph J. and Alida L. (Worley) Finnell. She was raised and educated in Dorchester and attended ITT Tech. She went to work for over 18 years with the City of Lynn Water and Sewer Commission as an engineering technician. As an artist she enjoyed painting for friends and family as well as Maine landscapes where she would spend her summers with her Sister, Nieces, Friends and Grandchildren. She spent her free time working with her sons as an assistant Mechanic and being the official “Mom” on the local music scene. Joan is survived by her sons; Paul Savia and his wife, Sheila of Pensacola, FL, Joseph Savia of Lynn, Stephen Savia and his wife, Denise of Maine, her triplet sister and brother; Jean Hoffman and James Finnell and their spouses John Hoffman of Lynn, Marion Finnell of Norwood and brother Robert Finnell and his wife, Pat of Hull, her grandchildren; Ashlee DeConic and her husband, Derek, Amy Grace Savia, Lauren Savia, Sandra Joan Savia, Shanna McCarriston, and Jenna McCarriston, her nieces; Cathy Hoffman, Christine McCarriston and her husband, Richard and Judy LeBlanc as well as several other nieces and nephews, and her great-grandchildren; Juliana and Laylah. Joan was preceded in death by her brothers; the late William and Joseph Finnell as well as her sisters; the late Lorraine Finnell and Louise Cardillo. Funeral from the Cuffe-McGinn funeral Home, 157 Maple St. LYNN on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 10 am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Pius V Church, 215 Maple St. Lynn at 11 AM. Visiting hours will be held in the funeral home on Friday, February 5, 2016 from 4 to 8 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Joan’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, PO Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-1042.
