LYNN - Mrs. Johan Marie (Jamieson) MacIsaac, 96, formerly of Lynn, passed away on Saturday, June 22nd, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Peter L. MacIsaac Sr., with whom she shared 57 glorious years of marriage. She was also the devoted mother of the late Johanna Marie MacIsaac of Lynn.
Born in Sydney, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of the late Hector and Johan (MacSween) Jamieson. She was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School in Lynn and the former Burdett College in Boston. Johan resided in Lynn most of her life, having worked at General Electric in Lynn for 14 years prior to her marriage. She was extremely dedicated to her church, St. Pius V Parish in Lynn, working with her husband Peter as Eucharistic ministers, teaching religious education, counseling those preparing for marriage, working tirelessly for the St. Vincent DePaul Society for many years, as well as for My Brother’s Table in Lynn and Habitat for Humanity. Johan also served as president of the St. Pius V Ladies Sodality.
Johan was the loving mother of seven children, whom she dedicated her life to raising with her incredible faith, patience, affection and constant guidance. She leaves three sons, Peter L. MacIsaac Jr. and his wife, Betty of Lynn, John J. MacIsaac and his wife, Kristen of Bedford, NH, and Neil D. MacIsaac and his wife Sheila of Byfield. She also leaves three daughters, Monica M. Silvey and her husband, Paul of Methuen, Mary S. Kalogeros and her husband, Jim of Georgetown and Anita Milka and her husband Bill of Rochester, Mass. She also leaves her brother, Ralph Jamieson of Lynn and her sister-in-law Mary Jamieson of Dorchester, as well as 13 adoring grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her best friend of 90 years, Virginia “Ginny” R. Wall, who passed away in March.
Johan was a devout Catholic, dedicating her life to serving God and those in need. She was deeply devoted to the Blessed Mother, praying the rosary sometimes several times a day. She was a prayer warrior who strongly believed in the power of prayer, praying daily for those who were ill, in need or deceased. Her prayer intentions were extremely detailed with names, dates and locations and would sometimes take her hours to recite each day. Her family often joked about her “hotline to Heaven.” People would frequently request prayers from her and she was honored to oblige. She was an absolute servant of God, Our Lady and The Holy Spirit. In her younger years, she and her husband Peter participated in prayer groups and traveled to Medjugorje in the former Yugoslavia to witness appearances of our Blessed Mother. It was a highlight of her life. Johan also had a wonderful sense of humor, which she retained until the end of her life. Her quick wit was enjoyed by her entire family, down to her great grandchildren. Her “Mom/Nana” jokes were legendary. She also never outgrew her love of children and of animals. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and cherished their visits and funny stories. She beamed whenever they were around. Johan was one of eleven children, all gifted singers and musicians. She played the drums in the Lynn Drum and Bugle Corps as a teenager and was a talented singer, sometimes filling in for her sister in her siblings singing group “Three Jacks & a Queen.” The group performed regularly on WBZ Radio. Johan was a gem. Her radiant smile, infectious laugh and warm, loving spirit will be forever missed by all those who knew her.
