John P. Dee, age 82 of Peabody (formerly of Lynn), died on June 9, 2021, after a period of declining health. He was a lifelong resident of Lynn prior to his retirement when he moved to Peabody. John was a devoted and loving husband to his late wife Barbara (Childs, Donovan) Dee.
John was raised in Lynn and lived there until his retirement, he was the oldest child of the late Ashley and Frances (Upton) Dee of Lynn, and he was predeceased by his brother James Dee and sister Patricia Berry.
John worked for many years at the Hibernian Hall in Lynn. He was a proud veteran of U.S. Army having served in Germany, he was a lifetime member of AmVets Post 161 in Lynn and a lifetime member of American Legion Post 153 in Peabody.
John enjoyed spending time with fellow veterans discussing and remembering his service days. He also enjoyed flirting with the waitresses at Dube’s during his weekly Friday lunch. But he was happiest surrounded by his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He will be remembered and missed by Barbara’s children: Kathe (Donovan) Haley and her husband Donald of Lynn, Karen (Donovan) Needham and her husband Charles of Chester, NH, Janet (Donovan) Keating and her husband Geoffrey of Alfred, ME, and James and Sheila Donovan of Salisbury, MA. As well as his grandchildren: Heather (Navas) Dee of Marblehead, MA, Garry Navas and his wife Catherine of Salt Lake City, UT, Todd Navas and his wife Ilana of Tewksbury, MA, Katie (Navas) Newson and her husband Bryant of Lynn, MA, Benjamin Needham of Los Angeles, CA, Alyson Needham of Somerville, MA, Elizabeth (Keating) Gilbert and her husband Jonathan of Wells, ME, Christopher Keating of Nashville, TN, Amy (Donovan) Nucci and her husband Mark of Wells, ME, and Michael Donovan and his wife Rachel of Salisbury, MA. John will be missed by his great grandchildren: Kevin, Casey, Shaunna, Kristopher, Lexi, Elyse, Aleigha, Kathryn, Sean, Mya, Kendra, Kyra and Sam. In addition, he is survived by his brother Allan Dee, and his sisters: Frances Shore, Christine Pryor and Sharon Russell. And many nieces and nephews.

Friends and family are invited to call at the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple St., on Wednesday, June 16th from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. His Funeral Service will follow in the Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
