John J. Doucette, 62 of Lynn, died Saturday, August 1st surrounded by his loving family after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Born in Saugus, he was a lifelong resident of Lynn and was the cherished son of the late Genevieve H. (Corcoran) and Robert E. Doucette Jr. John was a 29-year veteran of the Lynn Police Department. Family was the most important thing in his life. He was Dad, Grampy, Uncle John, “Douce” and a much-loved brother and friend. He leaves his beloved wife and children Diane (Peterson) Doucette, Christine Doucette, Katelyn Doucette, Tom Richard and Chantel Richard and his adored grandchildren Dexter, Aniyah, Carter, Willow and Joel. He also leaves his siblings, Jane Barber, Robert, George, Kevin, Brian, Rick and Patrick Doucette and Edward Carter, three aunts, an uncle, his nieces and nephews, his brothers and sisters-in-law, and many Corcoran and Doucette cousins. Besides his parents, he was pre-deceased by his sister, Ellen Redfern.
The family wishes to thank Care Dimensions, his fellow officers at the Lynn Police Department and our extended family and friends for their support and kindness during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John’s name to Care Dimensions or to a charity of your choice.
