John P. Giordano

Born on August 9, 1944, in Medford to the late Pasquale and Gloria (Cuoco) Giordano. John spent his early years in East Boston and later in Arlington where he would play football and graduate from Arlington High School with the Class of 1962. His football career would continue while he was attending Worchester Academy and Northeastern University, where he earned his degree in chemical engineering in 1969.

Following his education, John began a career in plant management and contract packaging, helping numerous companies win contracts with companies such as Proctor and Gamble and Lever Brothers. He also was a consultant who gave opinions of value for possible acquisitions of manufacturing plants for entrepreneurs and investors and his favorite phase was “If you don’t want to hear the answer, then don’t ask the question.”

In the 1980’s, John was struck with the entrepreneurial spirit and received the necessary permit for a hazardous waste recycling plant to be build in Merrimack, NH, which was subsequently bought out by Anheuser Bush. He strongly believed in the fair treatment of associates in business dealings and especially the fair treatment of the workers he managed.

In his retirement years, John loved to tinker with any old tractor or piece of equipment to hopefully return it to its useful past. He was a nature lover and kept numerous bird feeders full on his land where he enjoyed spending time, and never met a turtle he wouldn’t help cross the street. He had close friends from his high school and college days who he enjoyed always keeping in touch with. But most of all, John loved his family and he was loved back.

John is survived by his wife Marilyn (Porter) Giordano, his son John Giordano, Jr, his brother Mark Giordano, his sister-in-law Marie Darcy, and many Giordano and Cuoco uncles, aunts and cousins. He was the “Daddy” of Chrissy, Rainy, Blizzard, Barney, Benny, Barkley, Baxter and Whiskers, who brought many hours of joy into John and Marilyn’s life throughout the years.

John’s visitation will be held on Friday, August 21, 2026 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple Street, Lynn. His funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Northeast Animal Shelter, www.mspca.org
