

John D. Kaleta, age 86, of Swampscott, formerly of Mansfield, died Friday September 6th at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers after a lengthy illness. He was the husband of the late Kathleen (Cruser) Kaleta with whom he shared 50 years of marriage. Born in Chelsea, he was the son of the late Victor W. and Helen (Belko) Kaleta and was lovingly raised by the late Frank & Olive Prohodsky, Mansfield. He attended schools in Everett and graduated from Mansfield High School, Class of 1957. John worked for the Town of Mansfield as part of the Highway Department. He then went on to work as a welder at the Foxboro Company, a leading manufacturer of industrial controls, for 37 years until he retired in 1999. He enjoyed working around his home and took great pride in taking care of his lawns and gardens. John along with his wife Kathleen spent their winters in Florida, the latest location in Ponce Inlet. They also loved to travel to Europe and the West Coast of the US with their dear friends Jack and Martha Germaine.
He is survived by two daughters Maureen and her husband Thomas Maynard of Portsmouth, RI, Colleen and her husband Lawrence D’Alessandro of Salem. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Irene Kaleta of Mansfield, who was married to his late brother, Dennis W. Kaleta; in addition his niece Elaine Salachi of Mansfield and his nephew, Michael Kaleta of Cary, NC. Lastly, he is survived by his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Thomas and Linda Cruser of Pembroke Pines, FL and his nephews Matthew Cruser of Pembroke Pines, FL and Gregory Cruser of Los Angeles, CA.
Service Details: Burial services will be privately held at Springbrook Cemetery, Mansfield. It would be greatly appreciated, if you are so inclined, to make donations in John’s name to The Bertram House of Swampscott, 565 Humphrey St. Swampscott, MA 01907 where he lived for the past 3 years.
