
John Wayne Kerrins of Groveland, formerly a long-time resident of Lynn, passed away in his home Tuesday morning, June 27, 2017 at the age of 65. Born in Lynn on January 3, 1952, he was the son of the late David and Carmella (Febbi) Kerrins. Wayne was raised and educated in Lynn and was a graduate of Lynn English High School with the Class of 1970. In August of 1974, Wayne married his love, Eileen I. Loyte in Our Lady of the Assumption Parish in Lynnfield and the couple settled in Lynn to begin their family. Wayne was currently working as a dedicated team member with NEATCO in Peabody as a salesman selling sporting goods and uniforms. Wayne was an avid sports fan. He played high school hockey and also won a gold medal in the Junior Olympics in ice hockey. While he did love hockey, baseball was a true passion of Wayne’s. He was heavily involved coaching Lynn’s youth through little league and Babe Ruth league for well over 40 years. He coached the Lynn Babe Ruth Girls’ under 16 softball team that went on to compete in the World Series. He also coached the N.A.W.B.L. 2004 tournament champions. Wayne also assisted coaching the women’s professional baseball team in Lynn and also worked alongside the Navigators as well. He was a past member of the Lynn Fish and Game as well as the Knights of Columbus and also served as past president of Lynn Babe Ruth Girls’ Softball.
In addition to his wife Eileen, Wayne leaves his children: Michael Kerrins and his wife, Noreen of Lynn and Heather Torres and her husband, Manny of Groveland, his grandchildren: Michaela and Samantha Kerrins, and Manny and Violet Torres, as well as his sister, Lucille Beaulieu of Lynn. Several nieces and nephews also survive him. He was preceded in death by his siblings, David Kerrins and Marguerite Tranfaglia.
Funeral from the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple St. LYNN on Friday, June 30, 2017 at 9:30 am followed by a Funeral Mass in Our Lady of the Assumption, 17 Grove St. Lynnfield at 11 am. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn. Visiting Hours will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, June 29th from 4 to 8 pm.
