John J. ”Johnny” Dolan, age 73, of Danvers and formerly of Lynn, entered into eternal rest at the Kaplan Family Hospice House with his family by his side. He was the cherished husband of Mary Ellen (O’Keefe) Dolan, with whom he shared 48 years of marriage.
Born and raised in Lynn, he was the son of the late Patrick and Annie (Green) Dolan of Galway, Ireland. He was a former altar boy and graduated from St. Mary’s High School. He served in the U. S. Army Reserves.
John was employed by Stop & Shop Company as a Meat Department Manager and retired in 2008 after 47 years of service. In retirement he volunteered at the Northeast Animal Shelter in Salem.
John was a devoted husband, father and Papa who treasured every milestone of his family’s lives.
John endured his illness with courage and dignity. Everyone who came in contact with him commented on his great uplifting smile and how it lit up the room.
In addition to his wife, he leaves his loving children, daughter Lisa E. Sheppard and her husband Bill of Lynn, and his son Michael J. Dolan of Greenland, NH, a special friend Rizia, his three grandsons Kenny, Kevin and Kyle who provided him with much joy and laughter, two dear sisters Eileen Spencer and Mary Josephine White of Lynn, several nieces, nephews and cousins, a devoted family member Maureen Barry of Lynn, his sister-in-law Eleanor Barry and her husband Richard of Saugus, and brothers-in-law John O’Keefe of Lynn, and James Barnard of Peabody. He was also the brother of the late Ann Marie Barnard, and brother-in-law of the late William White.
Our hearts are broken and we will miss him always. Rest in Peace Johnny.
