Joseph R. Halliday

October 9, 1931June 21, 2020

Joseph Robert Halliday, age 88, passed away at Lahey Hospital in Burlington on Sunday, June 21, 2020. He was the beloved husband of the late Phyllis (Johnson) Halliday.

Born in Lynn, MA on October 9, 1931 he was a son of the late Joseph R. Halliday and Laura (May) Campbell and raised by his mother and late step-father, Edward “Pa” Campbell. In his younger years, Joseph proudly enlisted in the United States Army. He served during the Cold War, Korean War, and Vietnam War as a proud Tank Commander. Following his dedicated service, Joseph then went on to work for the Lynn Item as an elevator maintenance operator.

Joseph was a true lover of animals, someone who never wanted to see an animal hurt or in trouble. He enjoyed spending his free time with Paint by Number sets, reading books or watching movies about World War II. He liked to socialize with neighbors and talk about his military experience and going to his favorite local bar to watch football and baseball games on the weekend.

Joseph is survived by his daughter, Wanda Halliday and daughter at heart, Ann Gittens, as well as many dear nieces, nephews, and friends. He was the brother of the late Edward Campbell, George Campbell, Daniel Campbell, Steven Campbell, Lollie Czarnecki, and Susan Czarnecki.
