
Mrs. Josephine E. (Genova) Pickard, 82, of Peabody died Sunday at home after a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of Retired Swampscott Firefighter Edmund “Joe” Pickard, Jr. with whom she shared 57 years of marriage.
Josephine was born in Lynn, daughter of the late Francesco and Rose (Nicoletti) Genova. She was a graduate of Lynn English High School Class of 1946. She was a resident of Peabody for the past 15 years and previously resided in Swampscott and Lynn.
Josephine worked at the Clarke Elementary School as a Secretary for 20 years until her retirement in 1988. She previously worked at the General Electric Company River Works and the North Shore News.
Josephine’s true love and devotion was her family. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and Traveling. She also enjoyed spending time in New Hampshire at the family cottage in Tuftonboro, NH.
In addition to her husband she leaves her 3 sons Michael J. Pickard of Smyrna, GA, Scott F. Pickard of Tewksbury and Paul E. Pickard and his wife Maureen of West Peabody. 1 brother John Genova of Rogers, Arkansas. Also survived by her 6 grandchildren Kaitlyn Pickard, Lindsey Silva, Ryan Pickard, Jenna Pickard, Derek and Sam Pickard and Holly Reed. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Thomas Genova.
Funeral from the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple St. Lynn, Thursday at 8:00 AM. Funeral Mass in Holy Family Church at 9:00 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Wednesday 4-8 PM. Gifts in her memory may be made to Hospice of the North Shore 75 Sylvan St. Danvers, MA 01923. Interment will be in Swampscott Cemetery
