June E. (Larson) Beckwith passed away peacefully at Sunrise of Lynnfield, on October 17, 2026 after a period of declining health. Born in Lynn, Massachusetts to Carl “Oscar” and Esther (Nygren) Larson on April 14, 1931, she was the wife of the late John E. Beckwith Jr.
She was raised in Swampscott, MA. After graduating from Swampscott High School, she attended Gustavus Adolphus, in St. Peter, Minnesota. In 1957 she married John E. Beckwith and they settled in Lynn, where they raised their family. As a young woman, June worked at the General Electric in Lynn. After taking some time off to raise her children, she returned to the work force, first working at Star Market and then in Boston for New England Telephone/ Nynex.
June was a lifetime member of First Lutheran Church in Lynn. As an active member, she sang in the choir, played hand bells, taught Sunday School, served on the church council, belonged to the Lutheran Church Women, chattering crafters and in her younger days, the Luther League. A favorite activity of hers was running the white elephant table at the annual sale, along with her sister Carol.
As an expert knitter and seamstress, June loved making things. She created many of her own outfits, designed sweaters, and made all of the special party dresses for her girls. She loved sharing her talents and was happy to share her expertise with others. After she retired, she found a knitting group at the Swampscott Public Library and spent many happy hours there knitting. In her later years, she discovered quilting was another way to share her love of fabrics and sewing with others.
June lived a full and happy life. She was able to do some traveling with friends and family over the years. From a cross country trip in her youth, to Spain, England and Scandinavia, she was happy to see some of her country and the world.
She spent her final years at Sunrise of Lynnfield, where she enjoyed socializing, playing bingo and cards, and the many day trips. Thanks to the wonderful caregivers who helped make Sunrise feel like home.
She is survived by her daughter, Diane J. Beckwith, of Milford, New Hampshire; her sister Carol A. Dyer, of Warwick, Rhode Island; her sister- in- law, Isabella Hinds of Baltimore, Md.; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband John, she was predeceased by her daughter Nancy J. Beckwith; her sisters, Edith E. Breed (James) , Ethel L. Kolesar (Andy) and her brothers Carl O Larson, Jr. (Jane) and Richard A. Larson.
