June (Broatch) Carmody of Nahant, passed away on April 26, 2024, at the age of 90 after a lengthy illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph P. Carmody, with whom she shared 69 years of cherished marriage.
June was the dear daughter of the late Richard and Catherine (O’Pray) Broatch of Lynn and Saugus. She grew up in Lynn, graduated from Classical High School, Class of 1950, where she was the cheerleading captain. June, with her husband Joe, raised their family in Nahant, and she worked many years as a bookkeeper for Suburban Oil and retired after a successful career with the telephone company.
She was a dedicated member of her “Club” of friends, with whom she met every month faithfully for decades. She loved to travel with her husband and friends and spent many winters as a Snowbird in Bonita Springs, Florida. June was outgoing, fun-loving, very quick witted, and made everyone she knew smile and feel special. She truly cherished time with family and dear friends.
June was the devoted mother of Kim Carmody, Karen Carmody and her partner Kenneth LeBlanc, and Kevin Carmody and his wife Kristin, all of Nahant, the cherished grandmother of Jason Carmody and his wife Alyssa of Lynn, James Osborne Jr. of Nahant, Steven St. Ives of Nahant, Corey Carmody and his wife Caitlin of Nahant, Joshua LeBlanc of Louisiana, and Casey Carmody and her Fiancé Joseph Ragusa of Swampscott. The loving sister of Janet Broatch of Saugus, and the late Hilda Elwell and her husband Arthur of New Hampshire. June is also survived by her 4 great-grandchildren, and many special nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are invited to attend June’s visitation on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 from 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM at Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple Street, Lynn. Her Funeral Mass will follow at 10:30 at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 248 Nahant Road, Nahant. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America (AFA), www.alzfdn.org/donate.
