Karen Ann Friberg, a long-time resident of Lynn, passed away on Friday, November 20, 2015, in Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. Born in Lynn on March 22, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Harold Friberg and Laura (Alexander) George. Karen was a graduate of Salem High School, Class of 1964. After graduation she worked at various jobs until she found her career with the company now known as Verizon as an executive secretary, retiring in 1994. She then continued her education at Marian Court College, earning an Associate’s Degree in 1997. Karen worked briefly in both the Social Security Administration’s Bureau of Hearings and Appeals in Boston, and the District Attorney’s Office in Salem. She found a love for traveling and was fortunate enough to see places such as Ireland, Bermuda, Las Vegas, and Washington, D.C. Karen also enjoyed times spent at the family cottage on Salisbury Beach. She was a very thoughtful person by nature and would always put everyone else first. Karen is survived by her loving companion, Lou Costa of Lynn; her siblings: Janis Lasorsa and her husband, Michael of Nevada; Charles George and his wife, Laurie of Lynn; Laura Golden and her husband, Gregg of Washington, D.C.; and Brian Friberg and his wife, Patricia of Billerica; as well as many nieces and nephews, and Lou’s children and grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to gather in the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple St. LYNN on Friday, November 27, 2015 at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Pius V Church, 215 Maple St. Lynn at 10 AM. Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Lynn. Visitation will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, November 25, 2015 from 4 to 8 PM.
