Kathleen M. Keating, 97, of Fremont, NH, passed away on Friday, March 22, 2019 at Colonial Poplin Nursing Home in Fremont, NH. Kathleen was the beloved wife of the late Elmer Keating and the late Harold Keating. Born in Lynn on September 12,1921, she was the daughter of the late Thomas F. and Charlotte H. (Carter) Hart.
Kathleen was the loving mother of Michael Keating, and his wife, Claire of Kingston, NH, Thomas F. Keating of Kingston, NH, and Rosemary Hagan, and her husband, Albert of Jackson, NH and step- mother of Ted Keating of VA, and John Keating of RI; the cherished grandmother of John Keating, Kathleen Keating, Justin Lopata, Kristin Martiniello, Thomas Hagan, Katie Silva, Christine Marshall, and Brandon Keating; the adoring great-grandmother of thirteen and the dear aunt of several nieces nephews.
Kathleen was raised and educated in Lynn where she graduated from Lynn Classical in 1939. She was a strong woman who overcame polio as a child and never let it or anything slow her down. She had a talent for playing the piano and taught herself in her seventies how to play the organ. Known for her sense of adventure and love of travel, whether it was just to the lake house in Acton, Maine, much loved trips to Las Vegas or when she lived in Vero Beach Florida for thirty years. She was an avid golfer who played well into her eighties, but where ever she went she never lost her amazing ability to be able to make people smile.
Visiting hours will be held at Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple St. Lynn on Tuesday, March 26th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Her funeral will be held at Saint Ann’s Parish in Peabody at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 27th. Burial will follow in Saint Joseph’s Cemetery, Lynn. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to Compassionate Care Hospice at 18 Orchard View drive, Unit 4 Londonderry NH, 03053.
