Linda J Shuksteris

Born in Lynn, MA to Allan and Alberta Shuksteris, Linda was educated in the Lynn schools, including St. Mary’s Grammar School and Lynn Classical High School (Class of 1966). Linda started her career in 1968 at New England Telephone Company (which later became AT&T, then NYNEX) and worked there for over 27 years as a Senior Clerical Assistant until her retirement in 1995.

Linda’s love in life was her horses, especially her beloved Romeo and Jessie. As a teenager, she would walk miles for the chance to ride a horse at a local farm, and fulfilled her dream of owning her first horse at the age of 20. She enjoyed riding and competing professionally in many equestrian events, attending 4-H horse camps both as a youth and adult, and enjoyed mentoring and sharing her love of horses with other riders. She also loved dogs and children.

Linda also enjoyed riding her Harley, and attending many motorcycle events in the local area and across the country, including the annual Bud Run from GE in Lynn to the Budweiser Factory in Merrimack, NH. She had beautiful handwriting that was frequently complimented, and a free spirit and zest for life that was admired by anyone who knew her. She was fiercely loyal to her friends and family, and would do anything to help those in need.

Linda was predeceased by her brother Joseph Shuksteris, and her sisters Patricia Coombs and Marilyn Doane. She is survived by her sister-in-law Maria Shuksteris of Lynn, as well as many nieces and nephews: Kenneth Doane and his wife Elaine of Fremont, NH; Maria Deforge and her husband Greg of Saugus, MA; Joseph Shuksteris II of Durango, CO; Richard Doane and his wife Judy of Marblehead, MA; Cynthia Fitzgerald and her husband Michael of Nokomis, FL; John Coombs and his wife Rachel of Milton, MA; and Patrice Niemi and her husband Paul of Seminole, FL. She is also survived by many cousins, great-nieces, great-nephews, as well as many beloved friends.

Linda will be laid to rest with her parents at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Lynn, MA. A celebration of life for all who knew and loved her will be held at a later time.
