

Mrs. Margaret H. (Deveney) Fay, age 88, of Swampscott formerly of Lynn, died Wednesday morning in Massachusetts General Hospital following a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Retired Lynn Police Chief Thomas F. Fay, Jr.
Born in Lynn, Margaret was the daughter of the late Michael and Rose A. (Geoghegan) Deveney. She was a graduate of Saint Mary’s High School Class of 1940 and resided in Lynn for most of her life before moving to Swampscott 17 years ago.
She enjoyed trips to the Theater and the Boston Pops.
She leaves her children, Thomas F. Fay, III of Pembroke and Rosanne M. Fay of Swampscott. She was the sister of James Deveney of Rowley, Winifred Cargill of Norfolk and Virginia Fitzgerald of Danvers. She was the sister of the late Mary Scanlon, Rose Cornell, John Deveney, Louise Mailloux and Lorraine Amato.
Margaret’s Funeral will be held from the CUFFE-MCGINN FUNERAL HOME, 157 Maple St. Lynn on Saturday at 11:30AM followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Pius V Church at 12:00PM. Relatives and friends invited. Interment Saint Joseph’s Cemetery. Visitation prior to Mass beginning at 10:00AM.
