
Mrs. Marguerite L. “Peggy” (Dow) Graves, age 81, of Lynn, died unexpectedly on Monday, April 25th, at Mass. General Hospital, Boston. She was the wife of Frank E. Graves, to whom she had been married for 57 years.
Born in Methuen, she was the daughter of the Harlow and Helen (Turpel) Dow, Sr. She grew up in Lynn and lived in Lynn for most of her life. She summered in Wells, Maine and retired there before moving back to Lynn three years ago.
She graduated from the Chelsea Soldiers Home as a licensed practical nurse. Peggy was a L.P.N. at Saugus General Hospital, Lynn Hospital and at several area nursing homes.
In recent years she was a member of St. Stephen’s Memorial Episcopal Church, Lynn. She enjoyed bowling, walking and spending time with her family.
In addition to her husband, she leaves three sons Kenneth Graves of Boston, Thomas Graves and his wife Carol of Shirley, MA, and David Graves of Rockland, ME, two daughters Karen Schalk and her husband Alan of Berwick, ME, and Sandra Wittrup and her husband Kent of Lynn, a sister Suzanne Spinney of Lynn, seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She was also the sister of the late Harlow, Jr., William, George and Lawrence Dow, Flora “Ruth” Woodworth, Eleanor O’Connor and Shirley Davis.
Her funeral will be held on Thursday at 9AM from the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home 157 Maple Street, Lynn. Funeral Service in St. Stephen’s Memorial Episcopal Church, Lynn at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Wednesday 4-8 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations in her memory to St. Stephen’s Memorial Episcopal Church, 74 So. Common Street, Lynn, MA 01902.
