

Mrs. Marguerite M. (Manning) Shea, age 93, of Lynn, died Saturday, December 29, 2012 at the Jesmond Nursing Home in Nahant after a long illness. She was the wife of the late George F. Shea, Jr., with whom she shared 65 years of marriage. She was the daughter of the late William J. and Margaret M. (Greeley) Manning.
She was a lifelong resident of Lynn and was educated in the Lynn Schools. She graduated from Boston Dental School as a dental nurse and was later employed by the General Electric Co.
She was the owner of “The Darn Yarn Shoppe” of Lynn and was known for her skills in sewing, knitting and crocheting.
Marguerite loved all things Irish, especially her great granddaughters’ Irish step dancing. She volunteered at the Salem Hospital for many years and was a communicant of St. Pius V Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Maureen A. Shea and Nancy E. Geaney both of Lynn; one grandson, Michael J. Geaney and his wife Kimberly of Lynn, and two great granddaughters, Caitlin M. and Abigail M. Geaney of Lynn. She also leaves many nieces and nephews, including her best friend, Phyllis V. Guerin. She was the sister of the late William Manning, Helen K. Cahill, and John T. Manning.
Marguerite’s Funeral will be held from the CUFFE-MCGINN FUNERAL HOME, 157 Maple St. Lynn on Thursday at 9:30AM followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Pius V Church at 10:30AM. Relatives and friends invited. Interment St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Visiting Hours Wednesday 4-8PM. Gifts in her memory may be sent to the Padre Pio Foundation, 463 Main St. Cromwell, CT 06416.
